A pallet unexpectedly shifts and falls from a forklift in an otherwise clear aisle; although no one is injured, the event is logged and investigated as an unplanned event to identify the root cause.
A near-miss is one type of unplanned event — specifically one where no injury or damage occurred — while "unplanned event" is a broader term that can also include incidents that did result in harm.
