We were looking for a competitive advantage when it came to implementing SafetyIQ and what we found was a 70% cost reduction straight-away and achieved higher compliance and safety improvements within that process.
Easternwell, a Ventia company, needed a safer and more efficient way to manage long-distance travel for frontline workers after experiencing multiple fatigue-related incidents. Their paper-based journey management process and national call center created heavy administrative workload and high operating costs. By implementing SafetyIQ, Easternwell gained real-time visibility, automated journey planning, and integrated vehicle data through IVMS to better monitor remote workers. The customized Travel Risk Assessment helped drivers plan safer trips and allowed managers to focus on higher-risk journeys. Since implementation, Easternwell achieved a 70% cost reduction, improved safety culture, and reported zero fatigue-related driving incidents.
Easternwell’s frontline workers regularly drive long distances on rural, remote roads, exposing them to high levels of fatigue and environmental risk. A series of fatigue-related incidents and near misses highlighted the lack of visibility into worker travel. Their paper-based journey management process added heavy administrative burden and slowed response times. To reduce this workload, Easternwell launched a national call center, but it became extremely costly to operate. Managers still struggled to consistently monitor worker movements across multiple locations. Easternwell needed a safer, more efficient, and more scalable way to manage remote travel risks.

Easternwell adopted SafetyIQ after recognizing the advantages of a global, location-based monitoring platform built for mobile workers. With SafetyIQ, they introduced real-time journey oversight that reduced driving incidents, delays, and overall risk exposure. Together with SafetyIQ, the team created a custom Travel Risk Assessment (TRA) to help drivers evaluate hazards and plan safer trips before departure. The TRA works seamlessly across web and mobile, enabling quick journey creation and manager review through an Audit Log. Integration with their existing IVMS (Geotab) provided live vehicle data and full journey visibility. The onboarding process was structured, well-supported, and ensured fast adoption across teams.
SafetyIQ’s implementation produced an immediate 70% cost reduction by removing the need for the national call center. Easternwell also reported a stronger safety culture, with workers improving their driving habits both professionally and personally. Since adopting SafetyIQ in 2016, they have recorded zero fatigue-related driving incidents. Productivity increased due to the automated review of low-risk TRAs, allowing managers to focus on higher-risk journeys. The company now saves 37 hours per month previously spent on manual journey management. SafetyIQ has become a core operational tool supporting safe, efficient remote travel.
