Every April 28, Workers' Memorial Day honors people who have been killed or injured on the job and renews the commitment to prevent it from happening again.
Workers' Memorial Day is held every year on April 28 to remember workers who have died, been injured or become ill because of their work. In the United States it is promoted by the AFL-CIO and marks the anniversary of the date the Occupational Safety and Health Act took effect in 1971. Internationally, April 28 is also the International Labour Organization's World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
Behind every serious incident statistic is a person, a family and a crew. Workers' Memorial Day is a chance to pause, remember, and make sure the lessons from past incidents are still being acted on.
It is held on April 28 every year. In 2027 it falls on a Wednesday.
