Every September, Suicide Prevention Awareness Month encourages people to learn the warning signs, talk openly and share where to find help.
Suicide Prevention Awareness Month is observed every September in the United States. Mental health and suicide prevention organizations use the month to share resources, reduce stigma and help people recognize when someone may need support.
Work can be a protective factor: coworkers and supervisors are often the first to notice when someone is struggling. Some industries, including construction, have higher rates of suicide than the overall workforce, which makes workplace awareness especially important.
It runs for the whole month of September every year.
Ask them directly and listen without judgment. Help them connect with support, such as the 988 Lifeline or your employee assistance program. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.
We will email you two weeks ahead with the confirmed dates and a planning checklist.
