National Safety Month 2027

Every June, workplaces across the country spend a month focused on preventing injuries at work and beyond. It is the biggest safety observance of the year.

What is National Safety Month?

National Safety Month is led by the National Safety Council (NSC). Each June, the NSC publishes a theme for each week of the month along with free posters, tip sheets and social graphics that employers can use.

Because it runs for a full month, it is a good time for a bigger push: a site-wide hazard hunt, a near-miss reporting drive or a refresh of a safety program that has gone stale.

2027 weekly themes

The NSC announces its weekly themes each spring. We will add the 2027 themes here once they are published.

Ways to take part

  1. Run a site-wide hazard hunt. Give every crew one week to find and report hazards in their area, using your hazard identification process.
  2. Push near-miss reporting. Make near-miss reporting quick, thank every reporter and show what changed as a result.
  3. Follow the weekly themes. Build each week's crew briefing around the NSC theme.
  4. Close old findings. Use the month to clear the backlog of open corrective actions.
  5. Recognize good work. Call out crews and people who made a real difference this year.
