Every June 1 to 7, CPR and AED Awareness Week encourages more people to learn CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator.
National CPR and AED Awareness Week runs every year from June 1 to 7. The American Heart Association and its partners use the week to encourage more people to learn CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED), because quick action by bystanders can double or triple a person's chance of surviving cardiac arrest.
When someone collapses at work, the people nearby are the first responders. OSHA requires employers to have people trained in first aid when medical help is not in near proximity, and many workplaces add CPR and AED training to that coverage. The week is a natural time to check that your responders, equipment and response plan are ready.
It runs from June 1 to 7 every year, during National Safety Month.
AEDs are designed to be used by people without medical training and give spoken instructions. Training still helps people act faster and with more confidence.
We will email you two weeks ahead with the confirmed dates and a planning checklist.
