SafetyIQ provided Chevron’s Jansz-Io Compression Project with an automated solution for pre-trip approvals, itinerary processing, and safety check-ins during international and interstate travel. The platform replaced manual phone calls, texts, and emails with a consistent digital workflow that ensures travelers are accounted for at key points. SafetyIQ also integrated Locomote’s pre-trip approval technology, allowing Chevron to manage complex international travel requirements in one unified system. Together, the integrated platform improved efficiency, reduced administrative burden, and delivered clearer visibility to supervisors.

Challenges

The Jansz-Io Compression Project required heavy international travel across Norway, South Korea, and Australia, complicated further by COVID-19 restrictions. Traditional check-ins—via SMS, calls, or emails—were inconsistent and relied on both the traveler and supervisor remembering their responsibilities. Pre-trip approvals were also time-consuming, involving multiple emails and manual auditing across different travel rules and tax requirements. Chevron needed a fully automated, reliable system that could handle pre-trip workflows and safety check-ins at scale.

Solutions

Chevron selected SafetyIQ as the most capable system to automate journey management and travel oversight for the J-IC Project. During onboarding, the teams identified that integrating Locomote’s SaaS platform would streamline Chevron’s detailed pre-trip approval process. Within four weeks, both platforms were integrated to create a unified tool that managed itineraries, check-ins, approvals, and safety monitoring. This solution allowed Chevron to manage international travel complexities efficiently while ensuring travelers were consistently accounted for.

Results

Travelers reported that the automated itinerary upload and simple check-in process made their trips easier and more efficient. Supervisors gained peace of mind knowing the system would alert them automatically if an issue occurred and could display the real-time location of travelers. Chevron also identified opportunities for future expansions, including integrating corporate travel, telematics, risk assessments, and lone worker features. The project team confirmed SafetyIQ as a practical, effective solution that meets the needs of complex, high-volume international travel.
